I hate to have to say this, but all of you are wrong so far. It is possible to hack many PSP’s without a Pandora battery. If your firmware is below 5.03 you can do it for free. In the home screen go to settings, then system settings, and then system information. if it is 2.80 or under use one of the methods in the following tutorial:

If it is over 2.80 then you should use Hen and then hellcats’ recovery flasher.
First you need to upgrade to 5.03, here is the link:
