How long will the Sony PlayStation Portable around?
I'm thinking of buying a PSP (cons DS) – I think there is a Lite version and a new version 3000. When will they stop making games for the handheld console, since they do not want to invest money in games if the near future with a little life left. Thank you guys
I am sure you have some time, but left. But you can get games for a long time, and probably second hand console if something goes wrong and still want to use. I can still do things in the PC games I'm 20 and I would not worry for now until PSP
Should i get the psp go or the psp 3000?
I was looking for a new psp to buy after my 1000 crashed a few years back. I was wondering if the psp go is a good console to buy or should i buy the 3000. I already sold all of my games and memory cards because i wasnt planning on buying another one until now so repurchasing games isn’t an issue. Also i don’t really care about having both a umd drive and downloading because I have decided not to use umds anymore because of their fragility and being tired of keeping up with them so please help me with this decision!!!
Also any one who owns a PSP go, please tell me how your experience with it is and if its worth the $250.
PSPgo = download only, no UMD drives.
Pros: No game clutter, everything you buy, you buy on PSN and have stored on your system.;
Cons: Can’t buy commercial releases at the stores so you might very well miss out on some excellent bargains since PSN rarely if ever changes the prices on their older games. Also, i don’t believe that every PSP game is available to you through PSN. In order to download a game, you have to not only have an internet connection, but hold it long enough to download the whole file, which can take hours. If you don’t have a credit card, you will find it more trouble than is necessary to even get the PSN points for downloading games.
PSP 3000 = Slight improvement on the older PSP models.
Pros: Put simply, stays true to the original high selling hand-held with slight improvements like screen size and system thickness and screen brightness. If you DO want to download some games (some are native only to PSN) you have a lot of choices for memory card sizes, up to 32 gig I’ve found just at regular retail stores.
Cons: Is not much different than the 2000 series, might as well just buy a used one.
Final thought: In my own opinion, you should try to find someone who has an original 1000 series with the original firmware so that you can hack it and play homebrew games on it, along with your favorite PSP titles. But as far as your two choices, the 3000 is the way to go.
