Uno PSP Review – Uno PSP Free Download!

Uno has become something of an odd hit amongst gamers. Instead of sitting around a table with an actual deck of Uno cards, players have instead been saddling up to Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and iPhones to play Gameloft’s smart, clean digital recreation. Now, the PSP joins the Uno clan, offering four-player Uno matches against computer-controlled opponents or real folks via local WiFi or over PSN.

Gameloft did not mess around with the formula at all for PSP – and for good reason. Playing its version of Uno is simple, breezy, and makes immediate sense. As you go around the table, you watch the action in the middle of the screen and then slap down whatever card you can or draw from the deck. Challenging draw-four color change cards or virtually hollering Uno is handled by tapping face buttons. There really is no way to complain about the general set-up without picking the smallest of nits.

As with other versions, you can set up your own rules, point thresholds, and the intelligence of your virtual opponents. The easiest difficulty is a cakewalk, while hard difficulty imbues the AI with physic powers. (”Oh, did you have just one blue card left? Blammo – here’s a draw four and we’re changing the color to green! Suck on that, meat popsicle.”) Normal difficulty finds a good balance between these extremes, but there is no comparison to playing against other people over PSN. Getting into the lobby and finding a game takes very little work, but it may take some time as the newly released Uno is not as freakishly popular over on PSP as it is on XBLA.

Uno for the PSP is another fine port of the classic series thanks to Gameloft’s clean recreation of the card game. The colorful display is easy to read and manipulating your cards is simple. Setting up online games is easy. Although you could probably score an actual deck for about the same price as this download, consider the likelihood that you can cajole three friends into playing Uno whenever you want. You can’t, which is all the justification this download needs.
