Well, as I have to go NEW PSP (black) with about 4 games on it. as a case. an idea of how I can get for it?

Should I play the actual Final Fantasy games before I play Dissidia?
I bought Dissidia the other day, because it was on sale for $20 at Target, but I figured it’d probably be more fun if I played the games first. The only one I’ve actually played is X (10), but I know some of the other characters from the Kingdom Hearts series. I own VII (7) and VIII (8), but haven’t played them yet. Should I go get the first few games and play them (Well, the PSP and DS remakes of the games)? Is it worth the time to play them? I planned on getting them eventually, anyway, but not at the moment.
Oh, and for some reason I’m under the impression that the first few games don’t actually have characters. By characters I mean with their own individual personalities and such. Do they? I really have no idea why I think there are no characters, but for some reason the thought is just sorta stuck in my head.
i think it is worth buying the others just because they are such good games.
get 10 (if u have a ps2), 4 for ds, 7 for ps1(u download on playstation store for psp) and crisis core, and
maybe 1,2,and 3 if u want, they r also 4 psp
