How can I get custom firmware for the PSP?

well first you determine whether you have a fat psp or a slim psp, because the installation of custom firmware is completely different.
for the fat, you need to first downgrade to 1.5. the only way to downgrade to 1.5 is with a pandora battery and mem stick.
to make the pb you need access to a custom firmware enabled psp. if you dont have one or know someone with one, you can buy the battery and mem stick on ebay.
when purchasing these, dont go cheap, you need BOTH the battery and memory stick.
if you go cheap and just buy the battery, you then need a computer that has a memory card reader, so you can install the files.
considering youll save $15 by purchasing just the battery, youll probably spend more buying the mem stick reader.. so its not worth it.
once you are at 1.5, then you determine what custom firmware you want to install. to install the newest, 3.71m33, you need to first install 3.52m33 then install the -4 update, then run the 3.71m33 cfw installer.
