Playstation portables on sale after Christmas?
My son’s PSP broke, and I was going to buy him a new one for part of his Christmas. Since he’s already had one, and knows he’s getting a replacement, it wouldn’t be a big deal if we waited to buy it until right after Christmas. Do you think PSP’s will go on sale like everything else does? I wasn’t sure about high demand electronics stuff like that.
Game electronics don’t drop in price very often. What’s more, since prices are very closely controlled by the manufacturer (Sony, in this case) retailers can’t change the price on their own. The PSP just had a price reduction early this year, followed by the new PSP model this fall.
At its current price of $169 (for just the PSP) I wouldn’t expect another price reduction for quite a while, certainly no earlier than summer. Of 2009.
In the meanwhile, expect to see other bundles like the Daxter and Star Wars Battlefield ones in stores now for $199. Both include a PSP slim, 1GB memory stick, game, and in the case of the Daxter bundle, a UMD of Family Guy episodes.
